Amidst the current pandemic, a new crisis took place in July which caused a devastating hit to thousands of businesses spread all over the world.

The fourth day of July - Independence Day what was supposed to be a day of celebration was turned the other way around, the new thread operated from (CIS) - Commonwealth of Independent States (known as: "Sodruzhestvo Nezavisimykh Gosudarstv" in Russian) under the name "REvil".

The crime syndicate executed a planned cyber-attack with more than over two hundred targets in the medium/large-sized class and succeeded in ransoming their most valuable data.

This included one of world’s largest meat distributor in de U.S. the JBS organization, who eventually paid a sum of $11 million dollars after it was forced to temporarily cease their entire operation!

Following up by the group’s disappearance, large sums of ransom money were taken which for some was positive news. However, the companies that were in process of negotiating the ransom are left without a chance of getting their data back.

The effort and time needed to recover from any ransomware attack is significant and a lengthy process that can take up to months before the organization is back on track.
