Privacy policy

You accept this Privacy Policy when you sign up for, access, or use our products, services, content, features, technologies or functions offered on our website and all related sites, applications, and services (collectively ” Purchasing Services “). This Privacy Policy is intended to govern the use of Purchasing Services by our users (including, without limitation those who use the Purchasing Services in the course of their trade or business) unless otherwise agreed through contract. We may amend this Privacy Policy at any time by posting a revised version on our website. The revised version will be effective as of the published effective date. In addition, if the revised version includes a substantial change, we will provide you with 30 days prior notice by posting notice of the change on the “Policy Updates” page of our website. After this 30-day notice period, you will be considered as having expressly consented to all amendments to this Privacy Policy.

Collection of Personal Information

We collect the following types of personal information in order to provide you with the use of Purchasing Services, and to help us personalize and improve your experience.

Information we collect automatically

When you use Purchasing Services, we collect information sent to us by your computer, mobile phone or other access device. The information sent to us includes, but is not limited to, the following: data about the pages you access, computer IP address, device ID or unique identifier, device type, geo-location information, computer and connection information, mobile network information, statistics on page views, traffic to and from the sites, referral URL, ad data, and standard web log data and other information.

Website statistics and cookies

This website does not set analytics or advertising cookies and does not use a tool that tracks or measures your visit, so there is no cookie banner. We do not know which pages an individual visitor views.

We do see totals that others collect: the search engines (Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools) tell us how often pages appeared and were clicked in their search results, and GitHub counts how often a file was downloaded from our releases pages. These totals do not identify you. Like every web server, the servers that deliver this website process technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and to keep the website secure.

SQLTreeo Restore

This section covers the SQLTreeo Restore desktop application, also when you installed it from the Microsoft Store.

What stays on your computer. SQLTreeo Restore reads the backup files you open on your own computer. Backup files, database contents, connection details, certificates and their passwords, and exported data are not sent to SQLTreeo. Settings, the license file and the saved page indexes of opened backups are kept on your computer. A password is saved only when you ask for it, and then encrypted for your Windows account.

Start report. When the application starts, it reports the start to our license service: the version, a random installation id made at the first start, the license key if one is entered, the name of your computer, the time zone, the language and region setting, and the versions of Windows and .NET. The service sees the IP address of the connection. We use this only to see which versions are in use and where; nothing is checked or limited.

License check. When you have entered a license key, the application sends the key, the name of your computer and the version to our license service when it starts. The service answers with the end date of the license and keeps a record of each check.

Update check. The installed application asks the public release page of the application on GitHub for the newest version, when it starts and regularly while it runs. GitHub sees the IP address of your computer. You can switch the check off in Settings. The portable version and the single-file version do not check for updates.

Who receives the data. Our license service, which runs on Microsoft Azure in West Europe, and GitHub for the update check. We do not use these data for advertising and do not share them with other parties.

Your choices. Remove the key in Settings to stop the license check. Switch off the update check in Settings. Write to servicedesk@sqltreeo.com to see or delete what we hold about your installation or license.
