Trial and licensing
How the 30-day trial works and how to activate a purchased license key.
The trial
The first start on a computer creates a 30-day trial. During the trial every feature is available. The trial is available once per computer and cannot be extended or copied.
After the trial, comparing still works free of charge. Deploying, scripting and exporting reports require a license key.
Activate a license key
A purchased key is sent to the email address used at checkout.
- Desktop: Settings → License, paste the key and the name of the licensee, then verify.
- Command line:
sqlcompare license --key <key>. - Unattended machines: set the environment variable
SQLCOMPARE_LICENSE_KEY.
The key is verified online with the SQLTreeo license service. Verified keys keep working for 30 days without a connection. A freshly entered key that cannot be verified is accepted for 3 days.
Named users
Each license key is personal to one named user, who may install and activate SQLTreeo Compare on up to three computers that are mainly used by that person. Use of the command line on a build, automation or shared server requires a key for each such server. A key may be reassigned to another person once every 30 days.
Renewal
Before the term ends SQLTreeo Compare informs you and offers renewal. When a term ends and is not renewed, the paid features stop working and the software reverts to the free features. Projects, settings and reports are not affected.
The full terms are in the SQLTreeo Compare end-user license agreement.
