New version of SQLTreeo SSMS Add-In was released. We fixed few bugs and include also one major change – SQL Server 2012 support. SQLTreeo Add-In also became commercial product which will help us to give more attention to further development and support. We are now working on local storage support which was desperately demanded by almost everybody who used SQLTreeo in the past. However we will still support current way of storage using extended properties. You can download new version here.

Sweet really happy to see this project pushing forward.
Even as I understand the logic for making this project commercial, I believe you guys have just cut the wings of what could have been an awesome community-assisted tool.
Why buy a tool that is in its infancy stages when there is cheaper, tested product in SQL Handy Groupie?
Sorry to be so blunt, after waiting for a month for the “resurrection” that would bring about support for SQL 2012, this comes as a somewhat disappointing end.
Hi,
you are right, I would be dissappointed too. Maybe after month of struggling with no commercial demand we will switch the mode again. One of the main reasons we switched it to commercial phase is to find out if any further work just *worth*. If simply there are people who really need that tool for their everyday work. Because if they aren’t there no any sense to continue with this project at all.
Also let me do comparision with our only competition you mentioned:
- they don’t have SQL Server 2012 support – we have
- they don’t have possibility for nesting folders – we have
- they don’t have drag&drop in the tree – we have
- their price (65 usd) is only for one year of support&upgrades – we have lifetime licence
I am sorry you are talking about infancy stage, if you still need comment like this, please support it with relevant arguments.
One more thing – everybody had option to donate this project. From hundreds of downloads, only 10 people did it (you were not one of them). All those people received free lifetime licence regardless how much they donate.
I don’t mind it being a commercial product, its defiantly better than the SQL Handy Groupie. However I think the price showing as 99 euros makes it a considered purchase which puts people off. If it were 30-50 I think I would just buy it. You may achieve the same sales amount by increased purchases this way.
Have you considered trialpay as an option as well? http://www.trialpay.com/software-publishers/ I have got a few pieces of software through it on various sites before.
Thanks for valuable feedback, very appreciate it.
Thanks for your reply. I’d have to agree with most of your arguments. I didn’t say SQL Handy Groupie was a better product. I said it was cheaper, tested, it has been commercial for a lot longer than your product has been. One of the users on another post mentioned it being “unacceptable” that this project is free for so long and then all of the sudden without warning you slap a big price tag on it, conveniently right before features that everyone has been waiting for (SQL 2012) come out.
You are right that I do not have all the particulars on the stability of your product, after all, I have only discovered it recently, and have read little about all his capabilities. My apologies if my comments were baseless. But also, you guys have no discussion boards, there is no way to easily read about issues with the product other than the comments on the posts. Hence my baseless comment on infancy.
There is one thing I am trying to figure out. You point out that I have not contributed in donating to this product. To be honest, as I mentioned before, I only recently found out this existed, therefore I was never even given a chance to donate. Also, you say this in your latest post:
“One of the main reasons we switched it to commercial phase is to find out if any further work just *worth*. If simply there are people who really need that tool for their everyday work. Because if they aren’t there no any sense to continue with this project at all.”
Based on that, and your comment about the donations, it is clear to me, that SQLTreeo is indeed an entirely commercially driven product. Tell, me, if there was no commercial demand for the product, and you had no time to work on the project, would you release the entire source to the community with a GPL license to ensure its continued development? I’d feel tempted to say no, but you might obviously surprise me.
I’m sure you know that with a GPL license source release, you could still sell your product, as could any one who modified the source. But again, this is totally unthinkable, if your end is entirely commercial.
I’d actually consider buying the software, as many people have said, if your prices were more accessible.
Again, sorry for the negativity of my comments. It is not my intention to offend, I am simply stating my humble opinion.
Dear
thats great ….Good work keep it up .
how can we download its latest version ///
Download section on the top.
Good news. I will keep the faith.
I wouldn’t mind supporting this project financially however, $129 per license for 11 people ($1419) is going to be one hell of a hard sell to management for file folders.
